Before breaking for the winter holiday, let’s take a look at Thanksgiving celebrations at Seoul and Pangyo elementary campuses.
Thanksgiving At Seoul Campus!
Did you know that we celebrate Thanksgiving at KIS? On Thanksgiving day, everybody came to the lower gym and celebrated with our Thanksgiving party. Everyone was there to celebrate from PK to Grade 5! We even had many of our parents come to help us organize the food and celebrate together.
Before we started eating, we watched some performances and video presentations from some of the classes. The drama club did a few skits from different Disney shows and then they all performed a song from Mulan. Many other classes came up and performed some dances and songs. For example, one class did the Chicken Dance. It was so funny that people laughed a lot. Other classes showed videos telling us what they were thankful for. The second graders even dressed up like turkeys in their video. In their video, they said the things that they were thankful for, like their iPads and their families. These shows were very fun to watch.
Finally, Mr. O’Connor gave us announcement that we could eat our food now. The food was turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberries, stuffing, and two kinds of pie. It was really tasty. Then, we went outside to play games.
Why do we celebrate Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is a good celebration because we can thank other people that help us and make us happy.
Everyone had full bellies when they left!
Thanksgiving At Pangyo Campus: Early Childhood Education Is Thankful For Our Families!
The weeks leading up to Thanksgiving were busy as students in PK, JK and Kindergarten prepared for their annual Thanksgiving Feast. Students discussed gratitude and expressed different things and people they were thankful for, as well as preparing handmade crafts and placemats with their teachers: Mrs. MacLachlan, Mr. Dorn, Ms. Goess, Mr. Duffy and Mrs. Jacobsen, and with a song in their music classes with Ms. Cayer and Mr. Woods.
On Wednesday, November 22nd, our entire Early Childhood Education (ECE) department joined together, along with their families, to celebrate Thanksgiving. Parents, grandparents, and siblings were invited to partake in a Thanksgiving Feast, where they got to enjoy a delicious meal alongside their children (prepared and served by Hyundai Greenfood). Towards the end of the meal, everyone was treated to a fun little song, “Turkey Dinner,” sung by all the young students before it was time to say goodbye to their families. It was a nice way to connect with our families outside of the classroom and see many happy faces sharing the spirit of the holiday. We are thankful for all our wonderful parents here at KIS.
Thank you Gordon and Eva, third graders at Seoul Campus, for writing about your elementary school’s Thanksgiving celebration. And thank you, Jessica Jacobson, for telling us about ECE Thanksgiving at Pangyo Campus.
